This information is primarily based on my observations and discussions with hundreds of clients over the past 20 years of interpreting Chiron in the horoscope, and using it as the ruler of Virgo and the 6th house. This information is not necessarily suited to each sign or house placement as described as more research needs to be conducted to determine common effects. Note that when speaking of planetary contacts, harmonious or friendly aspects are considered to be sextiles, trines, and most conjunctions, while inconjuncts/quincunxes and oppositions may have a dual influence depending on other contacts. Disharmonious or conflicted aspects are considered to be some conjunctions, squares, quincunxes/inconjuncts and oppositions. It all depends on how they are blending with other planets, or within the entire natal chart. E.g. If Mars opposes Chiron, but Mars also trines Saturn and Chiron sextiles Saturn that opposition is probably much more positive. If Mars opposes Chiron and they both square Saturn, then more negative consequences are likely.
Generally, Grand Trines and Golden Rectangles are considered positive; T-Squares and Grand Crosses are potentially negative. However, a mix of positive and negative aspects and major configurations are often more successful for the native than when they may stand-alone. E.g. A T-Square that is also part of a Grand Trine may prove to be more successful for the native than a Grand Trine entirely on its own.
Chiron in aspect to any planet may provide a “bridging” effect, a freeing or releasing effect, or a strengthening effect as well, due to Chiron being a connection to typically Saturnian and Uranian influences. E.g. When younger, Chiron in square to the Sun may channel heavier Saturn effects, but in time as the native learns and evolves, and especially after a personal transformation which may release them from pain, they may exhibit the more Uranian side of Chiron with increased insight and freedom of expression. This may then create a bridging effect with Chiron where both Saturn and Uranus are expressed in tandem and more healthfully through Chironic activities.
Chiron in Aspects to Ruling Planets of Fire Signs
Generally, like other planets in fire signs, Chiron can really get fired up and find more assertive energy in these signs. Chiron would encourage the fire signs’ qualities of initiative, being more direct and straightforward, power and strength, courage, protection of others, and they may have a greater interest in sports, athletics, or any other activity that is high energy. They may be more attracted to adventurous and more impactful activities such as, MMA, wrestling, “war games”, archery, or other weaponry. The fire element is conducive to manifesting Chiron’s abilities in leadership, and a more spirited interest in competition, conflict, combat, the military, police, law, politics and government. As fire signs are attracted to power and a need to lead in their activities, they may enjoy speed, racing and fast cars, or nearly any other gaming or sporting activity where they can excel or balance and relieve stress, including adventure and endurance sports. Negative aspects to Chiron in fire may bring about these qualities too, but have more potential for injury, pain, bullying, or an aggressive, domineering manner.
Fire sign qualities should not be suppressed or internalized too much for these people. If a parent or someone attempts too much control over them, this could create a nature that is more rebellious than just being a maverick. Exerting too much control over them may lead to them acting out negatively or having greater impatience, unhealthy competitiveness, and a short fuse when things don’t go well for them. It would be best to encourage their interests in a guided, healthy way instead of forcing them to reject or abandon their interests. This could lead them to a desire to play fair, work as a team or team leader, and become a good coach or role model for others.
In any aspect with a fiery Chiron, patience may be in shorter supply than other elements for Chiron. It may very well be that patience is one of the issues they’ll need to learn. Still, they are probably amazing in an emergency and they can be a lot of fun. They may need to be taught not to be too recklessness, bullying or pushy, and to recognize not everyone may have the power and abilities that may come naturally to them.
Chiron in Aspect to Mars
We could expect the teacher of martial arts to make a positive blend with Mars and that would be correct in harmonious aspects, or after transformation. There is likely to be an increased physicality in these people which when used well could lead them to be athletic, competitive, and enjoy sports and physical activity much more than other Chiron positions. With positive energies here, they may excel in emergency medicine or any other health care, as first responders, or in police and military positions. They may be attracted to other areas where the extra boost from Chiron’s wisdom, skills and humble service to others connects with Martian energy. Chiron in aspect to Mars may have them be more physically attractive due to a greater interest in physical health and vitality. Males or females may have a more powerful physique or an “animal magnetism” that adds to their attractive qualities.
When in conflict Mars together with Chiron may still manifest the positive qualities after a transformation, but this could also be a physical or pain-inducing combination. When Mars and Chiron are afflicted, they may be wounding of others, perhaps due to increased self-centeredness, impatience, aggression, and violence, or they could have physical health problems. In relationships, Chiron square Mars could indicate being victimized by a male spouse, or he is a victimizer. Chiron trine Mars could indicate the person finds healing and satisfaction in a relationship with a man, or he is someone who is supportive and healing to their spouse.
Similar to planetary contacts with Uranus, Chiron’s maverick qualities in aspect to Mars finds freedom of expression to a greater degree. As in planetary contacts with Saturn, Chiron and Mars together may encourage more responsibility and disciplined activities. This could be positively outstanding and helpful as the native may be a force of healing, leadership and education using the skills associated with the Mars sign aspecting Chiron. In conflict, they may lean more towards feeling like society’s outcast, or perhaps have a self-involved victim mentality, with martyrdom, overt manipulation, being bossy, aggressive, or a vulnerable narcissism on subtle display. Chiron aspecting Mars may not be so destructive or painful for most natives, but if their wounding is not transformed, not only may they carry great pain that manifests physically in the body, they could be injurious to others as well. Generally, Chiron and Mars together or in Aries may boost strength, energy and vitality, but potentially overt masculinity and egotism as well, thereby creating or attracting more aggression or conflict.
Chiron in Aspect to the Sun
Creative Chiron can do very well with the Sun as his more humble, healing, educational, and enduring qualities can mix well with the ruler of one’s ego-expression and general personality. The Sun tends to “brighten” wherever it is located by sign, house and in aspects channeling that shining “Leo charm” perhaps. Therefore, Sun-Chiron contacts may improve their interests and abilities in artistry and hobbies, as their maverick nature can find many outlets to be creatively expressed. The Sun may also bring out a natural charisma with Chiron giving them the kind of personality others enjoy. Earthy Chiron works like Taurus it seems in that they can have a real green thumb with people. However, Sun-Chiron contacts may also bring about the more negative aspects of egotism, self-indulgence, dissipation, arrogance and self-aggrandizement, especially when in conflict or if there are too many positive aspects. Their self-love may be at the root of wounding themselves or others.
In conflicting aspect, they may have relationships with lovers or their children that can illustrate painful power plays, or the native may at times be overbearing, childish or melodramatic. The brightening effect of the Sun with Chiron may manifest a giving, kind, generous disposition, someone always willing to help, while increasing a sense of loyalty to others. The Sun may also boost their charm and ability to relate to nearly anybody. However, like negative aspects to the Moon, Chiron in conflict with the Sun could bring about some of the worst personality issues so, not just self-centeredness but potentially an egotistic and cruel nature, as they make everything about them in their wounded, insecure need for attention. These people could have a very strong constitution, similar to Mars energy, but also be strong-willed, domineering, controlling, or despotic, when they do not get their way. A more positive Chiron-Sun connection may lead by example, be someone to look up to, and although they could have a lot of rules, be very good parents or leaders. This energy mix, with other indicators, could point to cardiovascular problems whether they easily blow their top, or internalize stress and thereby sacrifice their own health to keep the peace. (Elon Musk – Chiron in Aries in 9th, opposite Uranus in Libra in 3rd, making a T-square to Sun-Mercury’s wide conjunction in Cancer across 12th-1st – Creative, innovative, but an aggressive ego that annoys leaders and the populace of many countries.)
Chiron in Aspect to Jupiter
Jupiter appears to be very friendly to Chiron, as he was in mythology the half-brother of Zeus/Jupiter who later rewarded his martyrdom by placing him in the sky as the constellation Centaurus. Together, Jupiter can expand Chiron’s innate understanding of a variety of life philosophies giving them a natural wisdom, or greater interest in knowledge and education activities. There may also be a greater interest in social causes or politics, or travel to or business with foreign nations. In many horoscopes, this can be a real powerhouse combination, as long as the Jovian egotism and over-optimism isn’t working against their own efforts. It’s possible that Chiron is elevated in Sagittarius and not a surprising connection due to what should be a natural relationship or comradery of centaurs. Regardless, one would expect Chiron in any aspect to Jupiter to be greatly interested in caring for and training others, and that includes animals. They may have much knowledge and many gifts to share, and they may have a wonderful, magnetic charm; a person who could attract all kinds of benefits for self and others.
If this combo is afflicted there could be trouble with the law or accidents while traveling, increased self-centeredness, or a lazy, self-indulgent hedonistic attitude. Additionally, Jupiter may expand the qualities of Chiron both positively and negatively and indicate someone with two personalities. They may be arrogant at home and a charmer at work, or vice versa. Jupiter aspecting Chiron is probably always right, or so they will tell you, but they usually have a wonderful understand of right vs wrong. When working well together, this may be one of the best planetary contacts for Chiron, as long as Jupiter is not expanding their pain and woundedness. (female client – Chiron-Saturn conjunction in Pisces in 12th opposite Sun, Uranus, Pluto in Virgo in 6th, open-ended t-squares with Jupiter in Gemini in 3rd squaring Chiron and opposite Moon in Sagittarius in 9th – kidnapped by birth father as infant and taken overseas, eventually rescued by international law enforcement but with no memory of events, partially raised by grandparents and a loving mother and stepfather, hands-on but domineering parent, successful career in business with a major corporation but a workaholic.)
In the fire signs, Chiron may find an incredible connection to spirituality, or an extraordinary energy boost, power, and perhaps marrying high values, ideals and morals to Chiron. If afflicted in fire, look out for fireworks as in any battle with them they may show great strength, endurance, and potentially violent aggression. With some planetary connections there may be a greater interest in martial arts, combat, and extreme sports. When they have deep wounds from their past, perhaps in childhood or early relationships, they may respond with a vindictiveness or brutality out of proportion to other signs until they learn to channel their aggression into compassion and healing. Otherwise, Chiron in fire could bring about an amazing resilience, very capable leadership, incredible strength, and superior coping abilities that can really help the native work through the issues of life.
Chiron in Aspects to Ruling Planets of Earth Signs
In the earth element, Chiron may find firmer ground to develop their greatest strengths, yet take longer for any miraculous transformation needed to overcome their woundedness. There may be a natural predisposition to earth energies due to its rulership of Virgo, including the famous earthy stubbornness but also resourcefulness. Chiron in earth signs may have them more attached to the material side of life which may ultimately delay spiritual transformation. Their greatest gifts may come from their natural skills in working with the earth and all its materials. Chiron may be tremendously powerful in earth signs and be very practical and ingenious after obtaining stability and structure, while hiding their wounds. When positively aspected, or after transformation of their pain, these earthy mavericks may be warm and protective and display tremendous healing abilities.
There could be an over-attachment to money or the more earthy side of life, or a deeply ingrained negativity towards those who cause any pain. Fear of not having enough money or other resources may create insecurity and troubling moods. An inability to accept and surpass their woundedness may even have them develop prejudice toward others who remind them of their sources of pain. Like other planets in conflict in earth, they may be prone to rage or an uncontrollable tyranny when thwarted. Materialism and security may be too important to them, and when their livelihood is threatened, they may show a pig-headed or rebellious side. If Chiron in earth is more balanced in the horoscope, they manifest innate understanding and abilities of earth-centered medicine and other healing modalities, knowledge as power, and a great willingness to guide, protect and serve humanity.
Chiron in Aspect to Venus (In Earth/Water)
Chiron connecting with Venus can be very pleasant as it’s a naturally friendly, earthy combination and may give the native a great love of humanity. The shared goals of these two planets and related skillsets for personal relationships or their work could be especially helpful. Chiron in aspect to an earthy or watery Venus placement may predispose them to be a good provider and this can be a moneymaker combination. Venus’s desire to be kind and caring and Chiron’s empathy can work together in aesthetics, beauty, health, education, or the arts and sciences, or anywhere that is helpful. They may be great at nurturing and provide stability to others when more positively aspected. Their skills and abilities may show up very early giving them a child prodigy status or success early in life.
When in conflict, the early upbringing could be painful with the native suffering abuse, abandonment, rejection, perhaps due to the stress of poverty, or an overly strict household. If Chiron in earth or water indicates early pain or difficult circumstances with the things in life that sustain us, they may have a fear of financial losses creating an over-attachment to materialism. If they can overcome a difficult early life or other periods of loss or lack of opportunity, Chiron may develop career success due to their willingness to work hard to achieve financial success. Severe afflictions may create a lazier personality, looking to others to help take care of their basic needs, or leave them immature or in arrested adolescence. If deep inward pain is not processed Chiron in conflict with Venus could attract abuse, or a cold, withdrawn, self-indulgent personality. Venus in serious conflict with Chiron may indicate much trouble in partnerships, love or marriage, or a deep inability to understand or express their own needs, thereby preventing healthier relationships. (male client – open-ended T-square of Chiron in Taurus in 11th, square Venus in Leo on 3rd cusp, opposite Moon-Uranus in Scorpio in 5th – hardworking financially successful in travel business, takes care of family, but immature “mama’s boy”, charming but controlling, overtly detached and egocentric, ambiguous bisexuality leading to abandonment of or by lovers when lack of successful intimacy is revealed, lifelong resistance to change.)
Chiron in Aspect to Mercury (In Earth/Water)
We should still consider Mercury as the co-ruler of Virgo and the 6th house, and Chiron aspecting Mercury is likely to have a lot to do with their work and career. Together, Chiron and Mercury may bring a higher intellect, a natural inclination for knowledge, and increased understanding to help them work through a variety of communication issues in interactions with others. Hopefully from the start and not just after an enlightened transformation. By placement, transit or comparison Chiron aspecting Mercury may augment critical thinking, wisdom, practicality, and logic. They may use these qualities well in positions of training, teaching, or administration. There would be a strong interest in learning about health, hygiene and medicine, perhaps leading to a career in health care. A greater interest in travel and education would be expected.
With troubling aspects to an earthy or watery Mercury, Chiron may indicate being a bit too complaining, grumpy, critical, emotionally unintelligent, neurotic or anxious, yet this may also drive them to greater success, especially in health, education and the other fields associated with Mercury or Chiron. The neutral influence of Mercury may help them keep all feet on the ground, or flourish working in business, trade or commerce. There could be an increase in being a chatterbox in some signs or houses, perhaps a neurotic tendency to “mansplain” or to be understood. However, if great emotional pain is not processed or transformed to encourage the better qualities, we may see an individual who tortures themselves and others with their deep-seated insecurities. Some manifestations may cause them to be harsh, impractical, martyring, blaming, or they get stuck in manipulations, mental health problems, or victim-perpetrator delusions. (female client – Chiron in Leo in 12th, opposite Saturn in Aquarius in 5th, one degree before 6th, making a T-square to Mercury-Pluto conjunct in Scorpio – Masters degree in social justice, sexual health, & gender equity, worked at university and government agencies for social justice.)
Chiron in Aspect to Saturn
The restrictive and withdrawn qualities of Saturn may not blend well with his abandoned son Chiron when in more challenging aspects. Unresolved pain and loss may fuel a taciturn nature or cold Saturnian tyranny that works greatly against them, further discouraging personal growth and healthy relationships. Difficult Saturn and Chiron aspects may breed a deep cynicism, perhaps from abandonment or rejection in early life, or later through painful relationships. This could indicate a person who may withdraw into depression and self-harm, or cause woundedness to others through cruelty, bigotry, dominance, tyranny, aggression, and more. Conversely, they may be able to focus more on work for happiness leading to great success in their career, but perhaps sacrificing personal happiness. Saturn’s penchant for order and discipline may lead them to work in government, the military or police or some other work role where they can decide the rules and ensure they’re followed.
Chiron may really shine with positive aspects to Saturn, both having much to do with self-discipline, responsibility, and wisdom. They may develop their self-care activities into entrepreneurial pursuits, leadership roles, or support and guidance of others. They may become an expert on a specialized topic. Chiron here may create a self-starter who is naturally inclined to authority and structure, hopefully through positive activities, and not by justifying any means to reach their goals for power and control. Family or other relationships may suffer leading to rejection or abandonment issues if Chiron is negatively influenced by Saturn, or if they feel work is more important than family commitments. Generally, problems with parents, older family, or any family members, the boss, or others at work may be more possible when in aspect to Saturn. (Vladimir Putin – Chiron in Capricorn in the 3rd, square Sun-Saturn conjunction, with Sun in Libra in 11th, and Saturn in Libra in 12th, Saturn also conjuncts Neptune and Mercury in Libra in 12th – Russian dictator, former KGB agent, murderer, aggressive war monger.)
In the earth signs, Chiron may be in its own element, being earth-bound, yet also a channel of tremendous growth and healing. If they require a strict adherence to their rules, or have an outdated dogma this may prevent growth and they may develop bullying tendencies. All earth-sign-placed Chiron positions may show a stubborn, square-headed nature at times which may contribute to their chironic pain. Wounding may arise relating to work or financial affairs or other things that sustain them. But, if they can resolve and transform their deep wounds, we may find a person we can greatly admire for being the salt-of-the-earth type, and they may help others reach great understanding of their own issues to bring about success in finances, health or career, which may benefit the general public.
Chiron in Aspects to Ruling Planets of Air Signs
Chiron in the Air signs may find more freedom of expression and be naturally inclined to communicate and teach yet still attract wounding. They are likely to have a multitude of interests but struggle at finding focus, which is a bit in conflict with Chiron’s natural tendencies. Their pain may be based in an inability to be clearly understood, or find healthy outlets for their thoughts and ideas, some of which may be considered by others to be airy fairy or too advanced to understand. Their differences from others may set them up to be ostracized because they are very smart or talented, outshining their average peers and creating insecurity. Positive aspects may induce an abundant intelligence but without support and guidance they may withdraw creating painful social situations. They should be encouraged to enjoy socializing to encourage healthy growth and relationships. They may have a high need to communicate or develop ideas yet be unable to find an audience or peer group that can relate to them, further pushing them to feel different and withdraw.
As Air signs tend to be sociable, loneliness or being misunderstood may detract from their natural gifts and innate happiness. If this is where the wounding begins, or if they attract abusive comments or criticisms, self-confidence and self-esteem may suffer. Negative communications may begin in childhood due to poor parenting, or in the schoolyard where they may be bullied for being different. If there are other considerations in the horoscope by way of love, support and less painful episodes in childhood, they may develop a myriad of skills and talents they can later write about or document with media arts. Severe wounding may encourage anti-social behaviour, let alone the pain of loneliness, but they may be able to seek many resources to grow and develop and eventually overcome hidden pain to be very successful. They would be attracted to hobbies and work that include teams or group effort, and their naturally charming nature may help them get through tough times. They may develop admirable qualities and be a lot of fun to be around, if they’re not prone to complaining too much. Being different from others may greatly accentuate their maverick qualities and lead them to alternate perspectives on life that could be very helpful to others.
Chiron in Aspect to Mercury (In Air/Fire)
When aspecting a planet of communication and education Chiron may really flourish tied to Mercury, unless it is in conflict and then emotional or mental health troubles may occur. The duality of Gemini-ruled Mercury aligned with the inner conflict of Chiron may prove to be dangerous for both the native and others they’re in relationship with. There may be interruptions in schooling, potential for accidents and injury, sensory challenges, mental health challenges, or personality disorders. Chiron aspecting Mercury and finding positive outlets, or when eventually transforming deep wounds into wisdom could bring some amazing benefits to them through education. Imagine the kind of teacher, communicator, or sales or marketing specialist one could be with Chiron trining Mercury. Chiron in contact with Mercury may increase the maverick quality and the native could develop some brilliant, or some whacko ideas, and maybe both. They may be most attracted to travel, media, communications of all kinds, and education activities. They’re likely to greatly value their peers, friends and siblings, seeking common ground in them to work collaboratively.
In affliction, they may be verbally abusive, or seek to dominate and be skillful at it, by manipulating the message for selfish gain to appease their own unaddressed fears and insecurities. Chiron in aspect to an air or fire sign Mercury could lead to great success working with people, in manufacturing, media and publishing, teaching or training, or their work may involve travel industries. (male client – Chiron in Gemini in 2nd trine Mercury-Venus conjunction in Aquarius in 11th, but in Grand Cross with Sun-Saturn conjunction in Pisces in 12th, opposite Jupiter in Sagittarius in 9th, square Neptune in Virgo in 6th – abandoned by father in childhood, cared for younger siblings throughout life, successfully owned 2 auto repair shops after immigration to Canada, then success in auto insurance industry, always working with hands at home, but maintained a victim mentality throughout life.)
Chiron in Aspect to Venus (In Air/Fire)
At first glance, Chiron aspecting Venus would appear to be really positive, and there is certainly that possibility due to the natural charm and kindness of Venus in air or fire signs. But much will depend on other parts of the horoscope and Chiron’s other contacts to planets in their signs and houses. Sometimes, Chiron connected to Venus may indicate a child prodigy. Some Venus placements have a deep-seated need to be noticed, loved, or seen as special, and expect to be put on a pedestal. Any rejection, abandonment, or other deeply wounding emotional issues could be extremely negative for them and bring about these not-very-nice Venusian traits, increasing selfishness and a haughty or judgmental attitude.
Chiron in conflict with Venus may have them stay in harmful relationships in the hope that a future balance can be achieved, martyring their own needs for love and acceptance while giving too much to others or undeserving people. However, with kinder planetary contacts between Chiron and Venus, they may have a more balanced approach to life and relationships, knowing that things aren’t always valentine hearts and roses. This can help them maintain their kind-heartedness while ensuring they achieve what they need while displaying amazing charisma. Relationship difficulties are highlighted with this combo and in marriage or other relationships, they man show a short temper, prone to arguments, melodrama, divorce, and/or they may be a victim or perpetrator of love-bombing, a form of manipulation.
When afflicted or before a transformation, narcissism and manipulations may be strong as a result of deep-seated insecurity about relationships. Artistry may receive a boost and if they master and overcome any woundedness, they may have a “green thumb” with people, enjoy working with groups and teams, perhaps children, and show great wisdom and leadership. Chiron in Aspect to Uranus
Here is another planetary combination where Chiron can naturally shine but not without some pitfalls. The master educator of the zodiac in aspect to the planet of insight could have much to offer to the community and society in general, especially when using their inventiveness. A positive relationship with Uranus could indicate a mutually sustaining combo that could really benefit others; in negative mode, there may be fireworks, destructive rebellions or sudden losses and upheavals. Even any aspect, Chiron and Uranus together may still attract highs and lows in life.
We have loyal, service-minded Chiron offering his skills and knowledge in relationship to socially-oriented Uranus to all humanity. Generally unconcerned about race, gender, politics, etc., this combination can achieve true social equality and justice, potentially wishing to create positive change in these areas or for any humanitarian cause. Chiron’s gentle, humble nature may have a softening effect on Uranus, while the thunder god in turn can augment Chiron’s natural wisdom and inner fortitude. They may at times show a hard, detached exterior but their focus on knowledge and ethics may hide the kind empathy and compassion hidden within.
Unfortunately, if Chiron is afflicted by Uranus, the cold, detached and ruthless side of Uranus may be revealed and display their famous iciness. There may be a tendency to sudden outbursts of anger, frustration or violence, and they may also be victimized by others in this way. Their natural difficulty in sharing their emotions may be furiously painful to others who may seek a deeper relationship with them, abandoning them when their hard outer shell remains unyielding. In any aspect, Uranus can work well with Chiron in any of the social or hard sciences, the arts, technology, particularly alternative health energy practices, or with modern medicine that uses imaging (MRI, x-ray, etc.) and other futuristic medical practices. Uranus, the ruler of astrology and other mantic arts, combined with natural healer Chiron may push many natives into following or studying these art forms. (female client – Chiron in Aquarius conjunct Venus in Pisces in 9th in out-of-sign/house Grand Trine to Mars in Cancer in 12th, and Moon-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio in 5th, Chiron conjunct Venus in 9th, both opposite Uranus in Leo in 3rd house – shiatsu teacher and energy healer, successful advisor of investment and insurance products, but abandoned marriage, endured a few sudden gains and losses of income/jobs.)
In the air signs, Chiron can really bring out their abilities to communicate, learn and teach, or work in media or education. They may also excel in telecom, air travel, any art or science, and probably be good with technology and electronics. They may be attracted to working in nearly any form of engineering, healing therapy, or another career that may be creative, collaborative, or work largely with people. If they are told to “shut up” or if other detrimental exposure to lack of free communication occurs, such as dishonesty, control issues, and manipulation, they may suffer deep woundedness and withdrawal creating communication issues in relationships. Transformation from any deep emotional pain may occur more readily due to a desire to try many methods of learning and relating and this could bring about their very best skills and talents.
Chiron in Aspects to Ruling Planets of Water Signs
Chiron in the Water signs would have them capable of great sensitivity, empathy and compassion; qualities common to the water element. With Chiron’s tendency to dig deep into their feelings through previous pain or wounding experiences some very emotional scenarios are possible. Unfortunately, issues such as rejection and abandonment may leave them feeling very insecure creating a multitude of problems in personal emotional relationships. They would feel things much more deeply than most everyone else giving them a sense of isolation. If deeply wounded without coming to terms with past pains they may become overemotional, strike out at others, or themselves and further encourage their loneliness. As children, they should be encouraged to open up and talk about their wounds, and not feel they have to go it alone. They may need more guidance than other kids or people.
If the deep emotional wounds are not worked through, they may victimize themselves or others and become cruel, very negative, even poisonous in some of their beliefs or conduct. Emotional blackmail and manipulation are just two behaviours they may fall back on in an attempt to make other people hurt as they are. Serious afflictions to a water-placed Chiron may indicate intense wounding which in turn may later manifest as a desire to be vindictive to compensate for their own suffering. But, if they can find healing and transform beyond their pain they are likely to develop great care for others and likely seek work or activities that can bring empathy, compassion, love, emotional support, and provide healing to others.
Chiron in Aspect to the Moon
Chiron in any vulnerable aspect to the Moon may be difficult for the native as the emotions or woundedness may become deeply buried, or they may suffer great emotional pain at times in their life. This creates potential for almost any relationship to be troublesome if they do not recognize the source of their difficulties and delay a healthy acceptance and transformation of their deep-seated pain. Disharmonious aspects to the Moon could indicate trouble with mother or other family members, and the native may reflect their pain by being too emotional or by withdrawing and not responding with emotion when they should. Some have their emotional pain be the centaur pulling the cart and display perpetual victim issues, attracting more abuse by attracting natural perpetrators.
Often, the Chiron-Moon emotional imbalances are the result of a difficult home life or lack of mothering, or some family members or people in relationship may be neglectful or sources of conflict in general. With severe aspects the mother may be cruel, rejecting, abusive, play victim-martyr or control games, or worse. For men, this may spill over into how they feel about or treat women in general. A long-term inability to rise above and resolve their pain could make for a very unhappy and unfulfilled life. However, it is exactly this kind of childhood or deep emotional suffering which may create great empathy and compassion in the native for others. They may develop a “let me take care of the family” attitude which may spill over into all their relationships. Sometimes this may be seen as interfering, or indicate emotionally excessive behaviour that is hard for others to understand or relate to.
It’s possible that Chiron is the higher octave of the Moon, and this is why Moon-Chiron people leave a very great impression on others for good or for bad. An unresolved deep emotional issue or wound in other people is very hard for us to watch; imagine how hard it is for them to endure. Now think of how wonderful it is when we see people work through and overcome their deep or long-term pain and grief; imagine the great relief, insight, freedom and enlightenment they must feel. This is why I think Chiron may be the higher octave of the Moon, but research needs to be undertaken to prove my point.
In positive aspects between the Moon and Chiron, or after a life-changing transformation, the native, whether male or female, may be a real joy and source of support for others. Their intuition and psychic abilities may be developed and help them overcome difficulties of a tough early life. In the most harmonious aspects, they may be blessed with a very happy home environment, intent on making others feel loved, emotionally supported, and create a warm, tight-knit group of close-knit family and friends. They become the wonderful mother or parent they never had, or they emulate the outstanding parenting they received. They recognize that a peaceful, happy home makes for a wonderful grounding for success in all areas in and outside the home. Chiron in Aspect to Pluto
Chiron may do surprisingly well in aspect to tough-guy Pluto. Why? Because their mutual gifts of strength, wisdom and transformation over the long-term, helps them work through and overcome what life throws at them with an enviable durability. Although Chiron may attract pain and wounding, involvements with Pluto may also help them develop self-empowerment, self-control, grounding, and resourcefulness. They may be less likely to be martyring, but potentially more sacrificing, perhaps drawing from a deeper strength and power. In any aspect to Pluto, survival and coping skills are likely good, and a noble, giving nature could be expected, reducing the more frightful Pluto tendencies. However, with Pluto, there is often a price to pay, and for Chiron that may leave him being exposed to very deeply wounding situations. Still, the empowerment the native may eventually receive may enrich their soul, and others coming in contact with them.
When afflicted, power, dominance, and control issues of all kinds may be seen. The native may endure long periods of setbacks, health problems, money problems, or nearly any other issue that may leave them feeling chained to bad situations. Their natural self-healing abilities may at first be repressed, and with serious afflictions, troubles with the government or other powers-that-be may restrict them greatly. But often, the restrictions may be entirely or partly due to their own stubborn nature, unable to either see or understand they may be the source of their own pain. They may suffer one form of abuse or another in childhood or some relationships, but these could be the problems the Universe has chosen as lessons to help them develop their own self-empowerment. Once they overcome or transform their pain and grief, the sky may be the limit, or perhaps a better analogy is all the resources they buried deep underground may now be unearthed. Transformation is greatly highlighted with Chiron and Pluto and they may find they can be very helpful to others trying to overcome deep wounding through their work in government, finance, health care or medicine, or education or other related trades.
Chiron in aspect to Pluto may be as tough as you can imagine, yet create great strength and resilience in the native, perhaps after first enduring some great suffering. This may be seen as good or bad depending on the houses, signs and aspects involved, and maximized due to Chiron’s and Pluto’s powerful effects. However, any transformations that occur may bring about superior power, wisdom, a miracle healing, and success. (male client – Chiron conjunct Mars in Scorpio in 5th square both Venus conjunct Pluto in Leo in 2nd – many extramarital affairs, abandoned two marriages and families for a third that was finally stable, but never shirked financial responsibility for the ex-wives and children, later rejected by adult children due to their childhood abandonment by him, he worked hard and climbed the corporate ladder to success at a major corporation, still working after retirement and a much better and happier person today.)
Chiron in Aspect to Neptune
Chiron and Neptune share a bond through their rulership of the axes of Virgo-Pisces, and the 6th-12th houses. Contacts between Chiron and Neptune may be as earth-shaking and melodramatic as you could expect and contain all kinds of victim-perpetrator and manipulation potential. However, their shared energy may also indicate a wonderful ability to learn and develop masterful skills, finding familiarity of associations in compassion, health, medicine, the arts, and serving humanity’s needs. Neptune, half-brother and ruler of all water is well-disposed to Chiron who in mythology, was born of a sea nymph, married another sea nymph, Chariclo, and with her fathered three daughters who were known for their compassion, beauty, intuition and wisdom. Chiron also fathered one son but with few stories about him available.
In most signs and houses a positively aspected Chiron with Neptune works well in fields associated with the 6th or 12th houses, such as health, medicine, hospitals, major corporations, service industries including education, and government. Neptune’s dissolving influence contacting ingenious Chiron could bring about a thirst for greater knowledge, wisdom and a multi-talented skill set, but also a fair bit of confusion at times. In conflict, Neptune may be detrimental to Chiron, as if the centaur had fallen prey to its more primitive centaur qualities if Neptune’s addictive nature, drug and alcohol problems, or other self-destructive tendencies arise. Neptune is the culprit behind several known and unknown hazards, not to mention confusion and self-delusion. The house of self-undoing’s ruler may appear to cause Chiron to sink to the bottom at some point, yet perhaps then the only way to look is up. With all the transpersonal planets, there appears to be a need for a deeper transformational experience to bring about your potential. This planetary axial combo may be harsh at times, but it also can provide some amazing insights, creativity, healing, and other divine gifts.
With Chiron-Neptune afflictions they may attract more of the common negative Virgo-Pisces issues of abuse, coercion, manipulation, chronic pain, martyrdom, and victim-perpetrator games. For some people, by response there may be an increase of selfish and cruel tendencies in a jealous or vindictive effort to find self-empowerment at the expense of belittling or dominating others. Sometimes it’s hard to know who is the victim and who is the perpetrator. Any subsequent acceptance and resolution of pain or woundedness will help them transform and manifest the kinder, gentler qualities of Virgo and Pisces and thereby provide the miraculous healing they may seek, enable them to offer this to others in their personal life or chosen field of work. In the water signs, Chiron is generally more emotional, sensitive and may attract or embrace the deepest pain and woundedness. Yet, there is also a greater ability to transform in time due to the natural inclination for water signs to put themselves aside to care for others. After transformation, or with only positive aspects, people with Chiron in water signs may do much for the forgotten segments of society, being the unsung heroes who use their abilities to bring about structure, grounding, compassion, healing, knowledge, and a great caring for others. This may be the pathway for bringing about happiness, improved faith in their own abilities, and a quiet, humble grace that enriches their own lives.
